Improving Health and Quality of Life

The Drug Free Alliance is a community coalition in Fort Dodge, Iowa that seeks to improve health and quality of life by significantly reducing the abuse of alcohol and the use of illicit drugs and tobacco.

 

The Drug Free Alliance partners with schools, churches, families, government, health care providers, human service organizations, businesses and industries, and other community organizations and agencies in Fort Dodge to develop an ongoing and collaborative process to address this very critical and destructive community issue.

 

Mission

  • To reduce the abuse of alcohol and use of illicit drugs and tobacco

  • To develop an ongoing community action plan

  • To build a healthy, drug resistant community

 

Vision

A Community working together, to improve health and quality of life by significantly reducing the abuse of alcohol and the use of illicit drugs and tobacco.
 

Objectives

  • Increase community awareness about the problems of substance abuse and develop strong community support for collaborative action.

  • Promote coordinated planning and collaborative action among all sectors of our community.

  • Establish alliances comprised of parents, grandparents, youth, business and industry, government, and church leaders.

  • Recognize and support the efforts of all organizations in our community who are involved in substance abuse prevention.

  • Provide information, resources and support to parents, families and youth on substance abuse preventions.

  • Support the business community in its efforts to reduce substance abuse by employees.

  • Serve as an advocate and a public voice to support community issues, policies and activities that bolster and sustain substance abuse prevention in our community.

  • Investigate and pursue federal, state, local and private foundation grants to increase resources in our community for community-wide prevention efforts.
