Osteoporosis/Bone Density Screenings

Osteoporosis screen is often called a bone density screen. Osteoporosis is a disease of the skeleton in which bones become brittle and prone to fracture. In other words, the bone loses density. Osteoporosis is diagnosed when bone density has decreased to the point where fractures occur with mild stress.

The screen consists of an ultrasound of the heel.  Density of the heel is considered to be an accurate risk indicator of osteoporosis.  The screen participant will need to remove both shoe and sock on one foot to have the test performed and will receive the test results immediately.

Osteoporosis Screenings are administered by Trinity Health Partners.
